Ealing residents invited to pick up their free children’s health guide

Ealing Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is pleased to announce that its children’s health guide is now available and can be picked up free of charge at local GPs, children’s centres, libraries, schools and nurseries throughout the borough.

This full colour, illustrated, 36 page children’s health booklet is a guide to common childhood illnesses and conditions for parents and carers. It is full of useful tips and advice including:

  • When and how to look after your child at home
  • When to see your GP
  • When to call 999 or go to A&E

It covers a wide range of topics, such as  breastfeeding, how to cope with crying babies, when to worry about high temperatures and fevers, and what to do about bangs or bumps to the head.

This guide is designed to help parents and carers know when children can be safely treated at home and when NHS 111 or a clinician should be consulted. It also features the numerous alternative health services that are available.

Dr Vijay Tailor, Vice Chair of Ealing CCG, said: “It can be worrying when your child is unwell or acting out of character, but this booklet is designed to help parents and carers understand how to deal with each situation. This guide should be a useful resource, whether you’re starting out as new parents, or whether you have been looking after children for years.”

Parents are also reminded that they can contact NHS 111 free of charge, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for advice.
